Kendrick Lamar is a movement. In addition to smashing the confines of what it means to make a rap album, he’s doing also doing some pretty cool things outside of music. His ongoing relationship with Reebok is one of those things, as the two recently collaborated on a new promo that delves deeper into his connection with the storied brand.

Reebok is collaborating with Kendrick in attempt to “celebrate creative art-forms in their most real, original and unique formats.” The company tapped the globally acclaimed director Nabil for a short film “that explores Kendrick’s split personality and his interpretation of ‘classic.'” It’s a video in support of Kendrick and Reebok’s new sneaker collab on the Classic Leather model, dubbed the ‘Perfect Split.’

The press release for the shoe and video says that all of the shooting was “on vintage video equipment…” to find a way to bring the “…sneaker to life as the intimate film delves into the split of personalities that lie within each and everyone one of us.” During the video, Kendrick talks about the important of Reebok classics when he was in high school and that when he wrote his first rhyme he “wanted it to be a classic.” The video also includes Kendrick kicking some rhymes off the top of his head he attempts to get into his “zone” during the shoot.

The Classic Leather ‘Perfect Split’ is available now for both Men and Women for $74.99. Retailers include Reebok.com, Champs and Footaction.
