Footage from Jay-Z party at Liv for the launch of, “D’USSE.”
This just in: Jay-Z endorses D’USSE Cognac. Give me a break. I will be throwing out all of my Jay-Z CD’s I have collected over the years. It’s over. Jay-Z’s all grown up, and an elitist, far from the projects he and his record label grew up in and still rhyme about. Why on earth is Jay-Z promoting a US45$ bottle of Cognac when he and his record label still rhyme, most of the time, about the streets and the projects, and what it is to be “poor”? Is Jay-Z a “role-model” fit to sit in the front row at the Grammy’s, with camera’s always on him, along with that other untalented joker, Kanye West? Did you know that Jay-Z has a major influence of what hip-hop music and artists play on the airwaves, both on terrestrial radio and on Satellite Radio in the U.S.? That’s right, like “a cosa-nostra” mafia commission for what hip-hop music plays where and when, influences significantly by him, Mr. Jay-Z. Here’s the answer to understand why “all of this”: because it’s A BUSINESS, he’s a business, pushing and charging for expensive products, benefiting off the monies and lifestyle these companies buy his endorsement for, that’s why. And, so candidly, he’s rubbing it in many many years of loyal fans faces, many of them, I believe not even noticing, especially the younger generation. While I am happy for his success in his own life, and please don’t get me wrong (no haters!), he can say endorse what he wants, but he can keep his Cognac, I’m fine with my California Vino. That’s just my take.
