Broad City is basically the best. Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, the stars of the Comedy Central show, seem willing to do just about anything in the name of getting a laugh, which included asking Los Angeles Clippers superstar Blake Griffin to appear nude on an episode this season.
Griffin did it and, as you might have expected, it was hilarious, as the concept of, “Nude Blake Griffin giving nude Ilana Glazer an airplane ride” is guaranteed laughs.
But how did Glazer and Jacobson convince Griffin to do it?
They were on The Late Late Show with James Corden (along with Emilia Clarke of Game of Thrones, making this a very good episode) reminiscing about nude Griffin. It turned out that Griffin was a fan of Broad City, so it didn’t take much convincing and he even had his own ideas for his scenes that they liked.
“He was great. He was really funny and smart,” Glazer said. “He’s really funny, but just happens to be a 6’10, great, amazing basketball player.”
“It was process. Obviously, he had to be comfortable,” Jacobson said. “There’s like one other scene where he has clothes on. So we were nervous.”
Let this be a lesson: If you want to get someone to appear naked on your show, it never hurts to ask.
