At this point, trying to recap all of the ways that Johnny Manziel has messed up in his personal life would take way too long. The former first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft is, essentially, out of football and is facing legal issues that even his lawyer is worried about.
Things have gotten so bad for Manziel that his father, Paul, thinks he needs help. Not in the way that most people need help, as Manziel spent time in a rehab facility last year and that still didn’t put him on the straight and narrow.
No, Paul Manziel thinks his son needs something drastic. As he told ESPN’s Josina Anderson, he believes the best spot for Johnny Football would be prison.
He’s a druggie. It’s not a secret that he’s a druggie. I don’t know what to say other than my son is a druggie and he needs help. He just hasn’t seeked it yet. Hopefully he doesn’t die before he comes to his senses. That’s about all you can say. I don’t know what else to say. I hate to say it but I hope he goes to jail. I mean, that would be the best place for him. So we’ll see.
Imagine how horrible things in the Manziel family have gotten if Paul Manziel to think that the best place for his “druggie” son is jail. If anything was going to get Johnny Manziel to reconsider all of the bad stuff in his life, you’d think it would be his dad saying something like this.
At this point, wondering if we’ll ever see the former Heisman Trophy winner on the field again is irrelevant, because it’s way more important that he fixes things with his family. Maybe once he does that we can dream of seeing him live up to his potential as a game-changing quarterback, but until then, he’ll forever be considered a bust.
