The ‘Madden’ Ratings Are In For The 2016 NFL Rookies And Ezekiel Elliot Is A Stud

The 2016 NFL Draft just wrapped up, but through the power of modern technology, EA Sports was instantly able to insert the 2016 draft class into the ultra-popular game mode Madden Ultimate Team. With each annual release of the world’s favorite (only) football game, fans are able to enjoy the time-honored tradition of arguing over player ratings. Now, this tradition is coming early with this rookie release. Let’s pore over where the top players in the draft stack up against more established Madden… Er, NFL players. Here they are in the order they were drafted.

– QB Jared Goff (Rams): 84 overall with a 95 overall “Future Elite” card, which represents his *potential* in the NFL.

– QB Carson Wentz (Eagles) 84 overall with a 95 overall “Future Elite” card.

– DE Joey Bosa (Chargers): 84 overall with a 95 overall “Future Elite” card.

– RB Ezekiel Elliott (Cowboys): 84 overall with a 95 overall “Future Elite” card.

– CB Jalen Ramsey (Jaguars): 84 overall with a 95 overall “Future Elite” card.

Notice how the top 5 rookies have the same ratings. We can all assume that Elliott will go gangbusters behind the Dallas O-line, which will raise his rating throughout the year, but everyone else? Who knows? I don’t trust the Rams with any QB.

As we head into the latter half of the top ten, the ratings start to dip.

– LT Ronnie Stanley (Ravens): 83 overall with a 94 overall “Future Elite” card.

– DE DeForest Buckner (49ers): 83 overall with a 94 overall “Future Elite” card.

– OT Jack Conklin (Titans): 83 overall with a 94 overall “Future Elite” card.

– OLB Leonard Floyd (Bears): 83 overall with a 94 overall “Future Elite” card.

– CB Eli Apple (Giants): 83 overall with a 94 overall “Future Elite” card.

The numbers continue to drop (albeit gently) as we head to the next tier of players.

– CB Vernon Hargreaves III (Bucs): 82 overall with a 93 overall “Future Elite” card.

– DT Sheldon Rankins (Saints): 82 overall with a 93 overall “Future Elite” card.

– OT Laremy Tunsil (Dolphins): 82 overall with a 93 overall “Future Elite” card.

– S Karl Joseph (Raiders): 82 overall with a 93 overall “Future Elite” card.

– WR Corey Coleman (Browns): 82 overall with a 93 overall “Future Elite” card.

– OT Taylor Decker (Lions): 81 overall with a 92 overall “Future Elite” card.

– S Keanu Neal (Falcons): 81 overall with a 92 overall “Future Elite” card.

– C Ryan Kelly (Colts): 81 overall with a 92 overall “Future Elite” card.

– DE Shaq Lawson (Bills): 81 overall with a 92 overall “Future Elite” card.

– OLB Darron Lee (Jets): 81 overall with a 92 overall “Future Elite” card.

– WR Will Fuller (Texans): 80 overall with a 91 overall “Future Elite” card.

– WR Josh Doctson (Washington): 80 overall with a 91 overall “Future Elite” card.

– WR Laquon Treadwell (Vikings): 80 overall with a 91 overall “Future Elite” card.

– CB William Jackson III (Bengals): 80 overall with a 91 overall “Future Elite” card.

This is where things start to get pretty weak.

– CB Artie Burns (Steelers): 79 overall with a 90 overall “Future Elite” card.

– QB Paxton Lynch (Broncos): 79 overall with a 90 overall “Future Elite” card.

– DT Kenny Clark (Packers): 79 overall with a 90 overall “Future Elite” card.

– G Joshua Garnett (49ers): 79 overall with a 90 overall “Future Elite” card.

– DE Robert Nkemdiche (Cardinals): 79 overall with a 90 overall “Future Elite” card.

– DT Vernon Butler (Panthers): 79 overall with a 90 overall “Future Elite” card.

– OT Germain Ifedi (Seahawks): 79 overall with a 90 overall “Future Elite” card.

– The Patriots didn’t pick. If they would’ve had a pick, it probably would’ve fallen into the 79 overall with a 90 overall “Future Elite” card territory.

Of course, with training camps and offseason programs still coming, who knows where these players will end up once Madden ’17 is in our living rooms, but it’s safe to say Elliott is the player you probably want on your Madden team right now.
