If you’ve read the Free Darko book, you’ll recognize the style of these new adidas ads featuring the likenesses of Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard. The artistic concept is really the same of Bethlehem Shoals’ Macrophenomenal Pro Basketball Almanac (WL review here), but kicked up a notch with animation…and product placement. Darren Rovell says that Shoals “cooperated” with the campaign, which I can only hope means “free sneakers and warmups for life.” And maybe a sandwich.
