A month or two ago I got an email from a reader who was all, "Wah wah wah, you never write about the Rockies in your baseball roundup." I think the email itself was tear-stained. I was like, "Wow, someone likes the Rockies?" So, Dude Who Complained About Colorado Coverage, this post is for you.
As the major league baseball season comes to an absolutely thrilling close, eight mediocre NL teams — the best the Senior Circuit has to offer! — are vying for playoff spots, all four of which are still up for grabs. And while most of the teams are happy to shuffle around dispassionately and keep hanging out within a game or two of each other, one team has come from nowhere to insert itself in the middle of the NL playoff race.
That team is the Colorado Rockies. With last night's Tulowitzki-powered win over the Dodgers, the God-fearin' Mountains have now won nine in a row to get one game behind Wild Card leader San Diego and just three games back of division leader Arizona. Of course, they'll probably cool off and miss the playoffs entirely because the Padres and D-Backs are better teams… but still. It's a nice story. A nice bedtime story. Good for putting me to sleep.
