Confirmed: Both Colin Farrell And Vince Vaughn Will Star In ‘True Detective’ Season Two

After nearly two months of speculation, HBO just confirmed what we pretty much all assumed. In addition to the recent news of Colin Farrell being locked down for season two of True Detective, it’s now been confirmed that Vince Vaughn is, in fact, going to appear in the series’ second season. Alan Sepinwall writes:

HBO describes the new season thusly: “Three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.” Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, “a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him,” while Vaughn has been cast as Frank Semyon, “a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.”

Well, we’ve now got 1/3 detective roles filled and the career criminal. I guess all that’s left now is confirming Taylor Kitsch’s involvement and Elizabeth Moss and/or Jessica Biel and/or whatever lady person they choose. Also confirmed is that Nic Pizzolatto will once again pen the entire season and Justin Lin will direct the season’s first two episodes.
