Makeout-Crazed Spanish ‘Game Of Thrones’ Fans Won’t Stop Trying To Kiss Jaime Lannister

Game of Thrones is currently filming in Seville, Spain, which will serve as Dorne for the fifth season’s focus on House Martell. Shooting in the south of Spain is a bit of a change of pace from their previous locations — Belfast and Croatia and such — for few reasons. There’s the climate and scenery, obviously, but there’s also the thing where Spaniards are apparently totally bonkers for the show. Like, Beatlemania bonkers. We saw a glimpse of this last week when over 80,000 people applied for 600 extra roles in the new season, and now the filming is dealing with another somewhat problematic issue: Spanish women won’t stop trying to kiss Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, the television version of Jaime Lannister.

“[Fans have] become more intense in Belfast for the first time too, but it’s nothing like Spain,” says Coster-Waldau, who emphasized that while he appreciates the attention, he’s unaccustomed to getting quite so much of it. “They’re really sweet, but some are like, ‘I’ve been looking for you for two days!‘” […]

“They are really excited,” local production company director Piluca Querol said of the fans. “There are a lot of girls trying to kiss the actors.” [EW]

So if you’re keeping score at home, the updated Most Likely Reasons For A Game Of Thrones Production Delay are as follows:

  1. George R.R. Martin asks HBO for more time so he can release the final book at or around the end of the series, instead of years after the finale.
  2. Extremely religious town raises a stink about a controversial nude scene taking place in or around one of their churches.
  3. A flock of crazed, makeout-thirsty female superfans chase Nikolaj Coster-Waldau off the set and through the streets of town for hours on end, preventing him from filming any of his scenes, and requiring a new soundstage to be constructed so the whole show can be filmed with a green screen on a secure lot guarded by armed former Navy SEALs.

We will continue to update this list as conditions on the ground change.
