Jon Stewart and Maziar Bahari sat down with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria over the weekend to promote Rosewater, and to close the interview Zakaria asked Stewart where he turns the channel when big world news breaks. Stewart of course picked up on the implication and weighed his admission with a jab, noting that he has a “Blitzer” alert on Google.
He then proceeded to explain the reason he treats the network the way he does on his show: “I want more of good CNN.” The Chucky metaphor feels a bit clunky, but I guess it works even though now all I can picture is Jon Stewart sitting around ranking the movies in his Child’s Play box set.
Either way, he’s doing it for your own good CNN. Making fun of you, that is. Not watching cheesy 20th century horror movies starring demonic dolls.
