David Letterman Will Host His Final ‘Late Show’ On May 20, 2015

The king of late night television on CBS will grin his famous, toothy smile for the last time on May 20, 2015. It’s a Wednesday night, which is kind of weird, but at this point Letterman can pretty much do whatever the hell he wants.

David Itzkoff at the New York Times broke the news on Twitter:

The Late Show with David Letterman has been running strong since 1993, when the talk show host was booted out of the running for the Tonight Show after Johnny Carson’s departure. Despite Letterman’s time on Late Night from 1982 to 1993, comedian Jay Leno took the job to much fanfare.

No word on when Letterman’s successor Stephen Colbert will take the reins. Hopefully soon, because with just six episodes left of the Colbert Report, Colbert Nation members are soon to enter a drug addict’s fix-less coma.
