A New Report Claims CBS Is Bringing ‘Star Trek’ Back To TV

Next year is the 50th anniversary of Star Trek. Paramount is certainly hoping that Star Trek 3 — okay, The Search for Spock is TECHNICALLY Star Trek 3, but shut up, you’re the nerd — casts Idris Elba in time for a 2016 release, but if they don’t, Trekkies will have to look elsewhere to celebrate five decades of people in red shirts dying. How about a new TV show?

Take this with a grain of salt, etc. etc. etc., but Latino Review claims that “CBS is looking to bring Star Trek back to TV,” which isn’t the first time we’ve heard that. But this report at least includes names, like director Bryan Singer, whose “been mentioned for the new CBS Trek as a possible executive producer through his Bad Hat Harry productions.”

Latino Review has more, including possible plots, but even if these specific rumors prove false, you can (hopefully) expect something Star Trek-related to happen in 2016.

As long as it’s not rebooting Enterprise, I’m excited.
