Though George R.R. Martin is skipping out on Comic-Con this year, and he won’t be contributing episodes to either Season 5 or 6 of Game of Thrones, so that he can focus on writing the next installment in the Song Ice and Fire Series (Winds of Winter), he’s still found other things to keep him busy besides writing. For instance, he’s now apparently helping to develop a new series for HBO.

According to Entertainment Weekly (via Screencrush), he’s producing a new series called Captain Cosmos with Z Nation writer Michael Cassutt. It’s being described as such:

At the dawn of the age of TV in 1949, a visionary young writer creates a science fiction series that tells stories no one else will dare to tell.

“Stories that no one else will dare to tell.” You mean, like, Winds of Winter?

Anyway, as Martin will only be producing, it shouldn’t cut into his writing time too much. He’s got binge-watching The Walking Dead for that. But don’t worry! I’m sure The Walking Dead is just research for a Utopian community in Westeros that will be destroyed by White Walkers.
