Showtime’s ‘Twin Peaks’ Revival Will Now Reportedly Feature 18 Episodes

Along with the news that David Lynch was returning to the Showtime revival of Twin Peaks, we also got word that there would be more than the nine episodes that were originally announced. There hasn’t been anything concrete since, but now the site Welcome To Twin Peaks is reporting a new episode number courtesy of the show’s cast.

Sherilyn Fenn and Sheryl Lee were guests at the Crypticon Seattle convention this weekend and revealed that Lynch is directing 18 episodes of the new series, with Angelo Badalamenti returning to provide music. Also the Twede’s Cafe in North Bend, WA will be restored to become the Double R Diner from the original series once again. ComicBook.com has a few more details on how Lynch will bridge the gap between the series:

Lynch, who co-created the series and directed a number of episodes including the pilot and Season Two (then series) finale, will co-write the episodes with Mark Frost, his co-creator, who will write a companion book set during the missing two decades-plus between seasons.

It’d be easy to treat this as a rumor, but Welcome To Twin Peaks helped break the news that Lynch had originally left the project and the confirmation comes from two fairly prominent members of the cast.

The only thing left unknown is if the show will be any good. We’ll find out soon enough with the show beginning to shoot in September.
