The Latest ‘American Horror Story’ Teaser Connects The Seasons While Giving You Nightmares

For keeping season six of American Horror Story tightly under wraps, FX sure is having fun promoting the hell out of it. So far we’ve seen clips teasing all sorts of horror genres from a Texas Chainsaw Massacre-style murder house to campy ’50s-style horror, with every other trope or style sandwiched in between. And now this latest promo certainly does nothing to answer any questions, but instead takes us on a walk down memory lane through previous seasons.

Titled “Anthology,” the clip starts out with the creepy Rubber Man from season one’s Murder House, then moves on to imagery of a nun with black blood pouring out of her eyes from Asylum, before evoking Coven because apparently we’re not pretending that season never happened, then onto Freak Show and Hotel, and finally flashes the dozen or so teasers we’ve seen so far from season six — despite the fact that most of them are probably ruses.

Somewhere Ryan Murphy is sitting with his fingers tented like Mr. Burns from The Simpsons watching the internet scramble to figure out what it all means, that’s for sure.

But surely you didn’t think that was the only new teaser! In addition to “Anthology,” two more teasers called “Harvest” and “The Visitors” hint at familiar territory. In the first, an army of primitive looking, uh, hay monsters are followed by a young girl holding a sickle reminiscent of the season’s “question mark” imagery.

The second doubles down on the alien stuff, with some eerie crop circles. Your guess is as good as ours! September 14 better get here fast.
