Former ‘Bachelor’ Contestant Lex McAllister Is Dead At Age 31

Alexa “Lex” McAllister, a contestant on the 14th season of The Bachelor, has died at age 31. McAllister’s passing took place on Tuesday with authorities confirming that the death occurred due to a drug overdose that appears to be an apparent suicide.

ABC reports that a friend received a message from McAllister expressing that she wanted to end her life. The friend would later head out to see McAllister and found both her and empty prescription bottles at the site of the incident. Police believe McAllister’s ingestion of the medication occurred between 2 a.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

McAllister was taken to the hospital in stable condition, but ultimately passed yesterday after her body began to shut down and her family decided to take her off life support. TMZ claims to have spoken with a family member that indicated McAllister had “struggled with depression and bipolar disorder.”

Sadly, this isn’t the only tragedy associated with someone that appeared on season 14 of The Bachelor. In 2013, former contestant Gia Allemand took her own life after attempting suicide by hanging and passing away in hospital two days later.

Jake Pavelka, the Bachelor at the center of season 14, issued a tweet expressing sorrow for the loss of McAllister and his desire to send prayers at this time.
