This Campy New ‘American Horror Story’ Teaser Is The Most Baffling One Yet

Okay, FX has definitely gotten to the point in their promotion for American Horror Story season six where they are clearly just screwing with us now. In the past couple of weeks, the network has released close to a dozen promos for the mysterious upcoming season of the horror anthology series, teasing everything from a Texas Chainsaw Massacre-style murder house, a terrifying baby’s cradle, hands coming out of stairs, this garbage CGI monster, wind chimes made of teeth, alien abduction, and a menacingly shadowy figure.

If that all wasn’t confusing enough, since the teasers are actually intended to throw fans off track of the upcoming season’s theme, I definitely don’t know what to make of this latest one. Titled “Blind Date,” the clip seems to spoof a campy ’50s style horror flick, with a woman — who screams “I have to get back to my sorority” — getting dragged under the water by some kind of swamp thing, only to reemerge… holding hands?

With the little we have to go on this season, between leaked photos set in a colonial era, rumors about Charles Manson, and something about creepy kids, it’s hard to see how this could possibly fit into the picture. But if the intention is to confuse us, they’re doing a great job of it.
