Is A Fan Favorite ‘Game Of Thrones’ Character Finally Returning For Season 7?

[Spoilers for Game of Thrones season six and seven]

With so many key deaths during the bloodbath that was Game of Thrones season six, the show’s call sheet is looking a little bare (and the maiden fair) these days. Ramsay Bolton, Tommen Baratheon, Grand Maester Pycelle, Rickon Stark, Loras Tyrell, Walder Frey, the High Sparrow, the Blackfish, Hodor, Mace Tyrell, the Waif, Brother Lancel, Margaery Tyrell, Roose Bolton, and, of course, Wun Wun — these key characters aren’t around anymore.

Who could possibly fill the Hodor-shaped hole in our hearts?

That’s right, according to Watchers on the Wall, actor Joe Dempsie, who plays fan favorite bastard Gendry, was spotted in Belfast, Ireland, where season seven is currently filming. “As far as we can tell, the actor has no other projects at the moment that would require his presence in the city,” WotW reports. “There were rumors floating around social media back in August that Dempsie had been spotted in Belfast, but there was no actual proof.”

Here’s the proof.

It’s impossible to tell how much in-show time has passed between season three’s “Mhysa,” when Davos helped him escape Dragonstone, and now, but Gendry could still be out there on his dinky little boat. And guess who’s also on a not-dinky huge boat? Daenerys. This could prove important, because with the deaths of Shireen, Stannis, and Tommen, Gendry is the only known member of the once-powerful Baratheon bloodline. He’s never been shown as someone who cares about his lineage (which he wasn’t aware of until Melisandre told him), but I’m sure Dany would still want Gendry on her team, as opposed to under Cersei’s control. Or maybe, if we’re going total fan fiction, Gendry and Arya will reunite, and Twitter will explode with happiness.

Unfortunately, he’s already found someone… Stranger.

Now there’s a crossover idea.
