Could Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn take a break from the adventures of Baby Groot to find love as the next star of The Bachelor? That might seem like a stupid hypothetical scenario, but after Tuesday night’s edition of After Paradise, the Bachelor in Paradise talk show (this is a real thing), it’s a valid question. It turns out that Gunn is not just a fan of ABC’s reality dating series, but the self-proclaimed No. 1 fan of The Bachelor. Think he’s kidding? Don’t worry, GotG fans. His appearance doesn’t come without at least a nugget of news about the highly-anticipated sequel that hits theaters on May 5, 2017. For starters, rest assured that the Vol. 2 trailer is coming “soon.” We’re pretty sure that means it will debut in the previews ahead of Doctor Strange in November, but maybe it’ll be Rogue One instead. What a mystery!
But the real fun of this appearance (Gunn’s second) is simply how enthusiastic and knowledgeable Gunn is about Bachelor in Paradise. Regarding the Ferguson twins as his Beatles might seem a bit over-the-top to some, but just as we geeked out over his fantastic Marvel film, Gunn deserves to be able to geek out over crazy-ass Ashley’s entertaining drama.
Seriously, though, let’s make Gunn happen as the next Bachelor.
