Lou Pearlman’s Life Story Will Soon Be Coming To Your TV

Well, that didn’t take very long, did it? Roughly a week after the announcement of his death, disgraced former pop music titan Lou Pearlman’s life story is headed for television.

Variety reports that Magnet Management and Condé Nast have acquired the rights to John Seabrook’s New Yorker piece “We Live In The Pop-Culture World That Lou Pearlman Created.” The series will look at Pearlman’s rise to pop mogul and the humiliating lows he hit after. Considering that we’re talking about series presumably soaked in celebrity, sleaze, Ponzi schemes and legal battles, it’s tailor-made for fascinating television. This could easily be campy trash or exhilarating storytelling or possibly both.

According to Variety‘s insiders, the project will be a limited series offering. Apparently it’s a bit of a hot commodity as “three or four accomplished writers and directors have expressed interest in the project.” Where it will wind up is still an unknown at this stage, but the project will be shopped to networks, cable and streaming services. The latter two options are considered to be the intended destination for the show which makes sense because there’s a bit of an FXish aura to it already thanks to American Crime Story.
