Melissa Joan Hart Thinks The Time Is Right For Revivals of ‘Clarissa Explains It All’ And ‘Sabrina The Teenage Witch’

With successful relaunches of everything from Arrested Development to the recent Fuller House on their resume, it’s hard not to wonder which classic television series streaming juggernaut Netflix will revive next. Some fans are lobbying hard for their favorite ’90s sitcom to get a new season, others for every Joss Whedon show ever. It seems the hosts of television talk show FABLife had television revivals on their minds when actress Melissa Joan Hart stopped by the show on Monday.

“Tell me…” host Lauren Makk asks, “Do you expect a reboot of Clarissa?”, referencing sitcom Clarissa Explains It All, which Hart starred in as a teenager.  Hart (seemingly) joked that she was going to a meeting after the taping and explains that ideas are being developed for both Clarissa as well as her other famous sitcom, Sabrina the Teenage Witch. She explained that the biggest mountain they had to overcome in the process involved negotiating the rights to the programs. Clarissa ran on Nickelodeon, while Sabrina‘s original run (which began 20 years ago this September, a fact that likely makes most of you feel very, very old) was split between ABC and The WB.

While neither show is currently in development with Netflix or any other network, Hart does confirm that the ideas are being floated around studios, meaning that we could be seeing the return of one (or both) of her most popular roles within the next year or two. Regardless of whether or not either show gets a shot at a comeback run, it’s pretty cool to see that all these years later, Hart still seems genuinely enthusiastic about the roles that made her famous.
