Conan O’Brien is rarely better than when he gets outside the studio and goes exploring, and in tonight’s episode, he is going way, way outside the studio. As he did last year with his episode from Cuba, Conan is abandoning his traditional late-night format in favor of an hour-long look at his recent trip to a military base in Qatar with First Lady Michelle Obama to perform for the troops.
The show’s Team Coco YouTube channel just released this preview of the episode, and it looks very cool. Wanna see some crappy Tawianese-style animated reenactments of Conan drinking vodka? You are in luck. Wanna see Conan get attacked by a dog from the K-9 unit and wail away on a guitar in a sleeveless shirt (not at the same time, although that would be impressive)? You are in luck again. Wanna just see, like, a translucently pale comedian on a military base in the desert? Man, this episode is coming up all you.
“Mission Conan,” as they’re referring to the special, airs tonight at 11 p.m. on TBS. Conan does these kinds of big event shows better than anyone, and this one looks like a lot of fun, so tune in or set the DVR.
