NBC Is Developing Comedies Based On YOUR LIFE (Blogging And Bar Trivia)

Hey, are you me? Do you like the things I like, and do the things I do? Because if you are, whoa Dolly, NBC is apparently interested in pandering to you bringing you some fresh, original content based on your experiences as a human being aged 18-35 here in 2014. Specifically, experiences related to blogging and doing bar trivia. You like those things, yes? Because NBC will make other shows if that’s not what you like. JUST TELL NBC WHAT YOU WANT, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

The first comedy, the blogging one, is from Scrubs and Happy Endings alums Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley, and focuses on “a pop science blogger and his wife who move from Manhattan and single life to New Jersey and married/family life” where “he begins writing about his suburban friends and neighbors on the cul-de-sac in the style of an anthropologist who’s stumbled on an undiscovered tribe.” And the second one, which has a working title of Pub Quiz, “centers on a group of twentysomething friends who team up once a week to compete in their neighborhood pub quiz.” Just like you do! Presumably!

Look, for all I know both of these shows will end up being critically-acclaimed ratings juggernauts. Every show sounds dumb in a one or two sentence description. (If Cheers was announced in 2014, the industry trade news would probably describe it as “A group of lonely alcoholics hang out in a Boston bar.”) But, I mean, with shows in the hopper about blogging and bar trivia, NBC is one sitcom titled Bottomless Mimosa Brunch away from hitting the 2014 millenial development trifecta.
