Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski reign as one of TNBC’s most cherished couples. There’s a reason why folks make gushing fan videos celebrating TV love like the one we have nestled above. If Zack and Kelly can’t make it work, what chance do us civilians have? That’s what makes this recent bit of speculating from former Saved By The Bell head honcho Peter Engel sorta heartbreaking, if a little silly.
Engel recently chatted with TVLine and within that conversation was the Saved exec producer’s theory on where assorted Bayside favorites would be today. (Probably didn’t count on that Screech jail business, we reckon.) When presented with the question if Zack and Kelly were still married, Engel didn’t spare our feelings.
“Probably not,” he said before providing a bit of a romantic silver lining.. “Well, they’d be married — but not to each other.”
Tough but fair.

Engel is currently promoting his new memoir, titled I Was Saved by the Bell: Stories of Life, Love, and Dreams That Do Come True, which is already out and spilling the secrets about things like a certain caffeine pill freakout. As for where Engel sees your favorite plucky younglings, it’s largely positive.
Zack would probably be the host of a game show or talk show, or he’d be managing a hedge fund; Slater would be a high school football coach; Screech would be Bill Gates; Jessie would have just lost to Donald Trump; Lisa would probably be Vera Wang, or a buyer at Neiman Marcus; and Kelly would be married with children and have a cooking show on the Food Network, which [Tiffani Thiessen] has — and I watch!
