Watch Stephen Colbert Attempt To Work Through The Insanity Happening In The Halls Of Congress

Stephen Colbert still manages to keep that bite of his old Comedy Central show within his new stomping grounds on The Late Show, getting a moment or two each night to produce segments with his crew that would normally lead off a night on The Colbert Report. The only thing it lacks is the “character” behind it all. Friday’s show featured a particularly funny segment revolving around the craziness on Capitol Hill related to Speaker of the House. The problem? Nobody wants the job.

With frontrunner Kevin McCarthy dropping out of the race for the position, nobody is willing to step up and take the position. Or as Paul Ryan’s friend put it, nobody is that much of a “f*cking moron.”

I am particularly fond of Colbert’s House of Cards impression during this segment and the idea that anybody could potentially show up and get elected speaker. New Gingrich, Bob Dole, or the dog from Air Bud. What a time to be alive!

Elsewhere on the show, Colbert provided his audience with a set of life hacks they could to make their life a little easier. If only he had a few life hacks for the members of congress, maybe something to do with chaining a few up in the basement of the building and walling them away forever. Maybe toss an enchantment or two on the door and sacrifice a goat to make it stick. It worked in Florida.
