There’s A Secret ‘Walking Dead’ Note Meant For Andrew Lincoln Buried Somewhere

Rick Grimes needs his gun bag like a child (CORAL) does a security blanket (tub of pudding). It has to either be on him, or at least somewhere nearby, like in the season four finale, when he buries the bag before storming the gates of Terminus. In the season five premiere, Grimes retrieves his precious cargo in the same spot, although, in real life, it was filmed at a different location. This proved to be a problem for The Walking Dead showrunner Scott Gimple, because he left a note for Andrew Lincoln where the bag was originally buried. And it’s still out there.

“What I had done,” explains Gimple on the [season five DVD] commentary tack, “I had buried a note for ourselves when we put the dirt back in the hole that Rick had dug, because Andy did want to dig the hole. And then we wound up shooting this in just a slightly different place. And that note is still out there somewhere.”

“Oh my goodness,” responds [executive producer Gale Anne Hurd]. “There is going to be a scavenger hunt to find the note! I hope it’s a note you don’t mind if people read.” (Via)

Gimple wouldn’t say what’s in the note, other than, “It might be a little corny.”

It’s probably one of Rick’s classic dad jokes.
