Sampha – “Happens”

As promised, Sampha delivers “Happens.”

Perhaps it’s because my head is currently sprinting with a thousand different thoughts. Or maybe it’s because Hip-Hop isn’t on deck for my musical taste this cold Virginia afternoon. Whatever the case may be, Sampha’s newest audio dish prescribes itself as the ideal escape.

I can’t diagnose where the vocals will take the next man or woman to click play. For myself, “Happens” and its unique ability to paint a clouded picture with often times barely legible vocals produces palpable results evident in me replaying the record numerous times. The number just resonates personally in ways difficult to describe here.

What it amounts to is a man and his piano leaving behind thoughts sure to live much longer than he will. I guess, in much smaller scale fashion, that’s how it is for me and this blank WordPress document.

Scoop “Happens” on iTunes and preorder on vinyl here.
