When the All-Star reserves were announced last Thursday, DeMarcus Cousins was justifiably viewed as a major snub. After being named as Kobe Bryant’s replacement on the West squad, it eased many basketball fans’ outrage.
Boogie put together another stellar performance on Saturday as his Kings visited the Pacers, posting his 28th double-double of the season with 20 points and 19 rebounds. His 20th point provided a prime example of just how impressive his game has become over the years. After Rudy Gay missed a running floater in the lane, DMC skied over Ian Mahinmi and Luis Scola to clean up the mess with a monster, one-handed putback.
The grimace on Cousins’ face as he jogged up the court after his powerful clean-up dunk says it all.
The Kings led by as many as 23 points on Saturday night, but the Pacers came charging back late in the game to cut it to a three-point deficit with less than 10 seconds remaining. However, Gay was able to ice the game with two clutch free throws, and Sacramento escaped with a 99-94 victory to snap an eight-game losing skid.
