Before Fall Out Boy, like, TOTALLY SOLD OUT, bro, they were more punk than pop, with a background (built their fanbase through local DIY shows in Illinois) that would be more romanticized if “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” had never happened. But it did happen, and Fall Out Boy embraced their top-40 hooks enough to sell out arenas.
In a return to their pre-mall emo days, the band has been working with Ryan Adams, who somehow produced the blistering “Love, Sex, Death” out of them. The single’s set to appear on the upcoming EP, Pax Am Days, and is apparently indicative of Fall Out Boy’s two-day session with Adams as a whole. Jiminy jillickers that sounds good.
