In her new attempt to avoid becoming a one-hit wonder, “Call Me Maybe” singer Carly Rae Jepsen is pulling out all the stops for her follow-up single “I Really Like You” by enlisting some very huge names to appear in her video. Making good use of her Hollywood connections — namely her manager Scooter Braun — Jepsen scored appearances by Tom Hanks and Justin Bieber, who is also managed by Braun. How did that happen? Joanna Robinson of Vanity Fair wrote:
[Last summer, Hanks and Bieber] bopped out to “This Is How We Do It” at talent manager Scooter Braun’s wedding. Braun also happens to be Jepsen’s manager, so we assume he called in a few favors, and, voila, pop-culture Yahtzee!
Considering what we heard about Jepsen’s alleged financial state and the Justin Bieber Psuedo-Humble Pie-Eating Contest Apology Tour, why are people trusting Scooter Braun with their careers again? Anyway…
Scenes from the video for “I Really Like You” were filmed in New York City this week, and while you can’t see Bieber in this Instagram post, you can definitely see Mr. Hanks up front with Jepsen:
I’m sure he eventually got those moves right. He’s Tom Hanks. He’s awesome!
