The world never got the Backstreet Boys and Fiona Apple collaboration it demanded, but #SNL40 still had its share of memorable musical moments, including Miley Cyrus reminding everyone that once you stop paying attention to all the glitter and bondage, she can actually sing, and Paul McCartney playing “Maybe I’m Amazed” for the millionth time. But the best performances were, of course, at the afterparty. And thanks to the MAGIC of technology (Dan Aykroyd must be so happy that cell phones weren’t around during his “cocaine budget” days), we can now watch Prince jam with Bill Murray and his temporary Wendy and Lisa, Haim.

But my personal favorite was Bill Murray casually playing the tambourine.
The party lasted until 4 a.m., which is just when Murray starts to get going.
