The Uproxx staff was disheartened to see some of our personal favorites bounced in the very first round of our Song of the Summer bracket Monday (R.I.P. Action Bronson, Tame Impala, Titus Andronicus). Sometimes, when you champion democracy, these things happen. #Freedom ain’t free, and all that.

But, as promised, we’re back with voting on the Elite Eight today. We’ve already provided you with our reasonings for voting on each song, so we’ll dispense with the electioneering and simply let you vote. As was case in the first round, voting on the Elite Eight will end at 10 p.m. EST Tuesday.

Pop / Dance 1 Region

No. 1 Taylor Swift, “Bad Blood” (won 964-340 in first round)
vs.
No. 3 Carly Rae Jepsen, “I Really Like You” (678-539)

Taylor had the biggest margin of victory in the first round (natch), taking down the unfortunate Years & Years lads by a whopping 964-340 tally. Jepsen’s victory was much narrower, but still mightily impressive, considering she was the underdog against David Guetta’s No. 6-charting hit, “Hey Mama.” Can she do the same against the queen?

Indie / Rock Region

No. 3 Passion Pit, “Until We Can’t (Let’s Go)” (537-288)
vs.
No. 4 Best Coast, “California Nights” (478-407)

This is the region that surprised the Uproxx staff the most, with the two dogs moving on. You guys really like Passion Pit! (They got the third-most votes of any act in the first round.) But the bigger shock was the Best Coast win, considering “California Nights” is the outlier in this bracket, a slow-burner compared to the rest of these up-tempo numbers.

Rap / Hip-Hop Region

No. 1 Wiz Khalifa feat. Charlie Puth, “See You Again” (535-487)
vs.
No. 3 Jamie xx feat. Young Thug and Popcaan, “I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)” (530-220)

Nothing really shocking in the results here, though we will miss “Baby Blue” and its absolutely stellar Chance the Rapper feature. Can the critical darling Jamie xx knock off the chart-topping Wiz?

Pop / Dance 2 Region

No. 1 Jason Derulo, “Want to Want Me” (464-303)
vs.
No. 3 Major Lazer and DJ Snake feat. Mø, “Lean On” (537-227)

The way the bracket was positioned, with “Lean On” going against “Where Are Ü Now,” Diplo was guaranteed a spot in the Elite Eight, and many of you in the comments Monday singled “Lean On” out as the track you’d like to see win this whole thing. But Jason Derulo is a monster, “Want to Want Me” is an irresistible delight, and we’re just really excited to see what comes of this match-up.
