After former Voice contestant Christina Grimmie was murdered by a gunman following a performance in Orlando, Florida this weekend, many fans — both famous and not — have reached out to support her family. One of those supporters is Adam Levine, who mentored Grimmie on The Voice. Just before her death, Levine posted a selfie he took with his mentee, hoping that she would pull through. Now Grimmie’s brother revealed that Levine offered to pay all of Grimmie’s funeral expenses, as well as for her mother’s flight.
Marcus Grimmie posted on Facebook about his sister, Levine, and the countless supporters who have donated to GoFundMe page for the Grimmie family:
I found out this morning, that Adam Levine personally called my mother and said he will pay for the funeral and her plane flight, and I was blown away. Now a friend just told me to look at the gofundme page and I see it is at 100k. Words cannot express…literally I have no words.
It’s hard enough to have your daughter or sister taken away in such a violent way. Having the financial burden taken care of will hopefully make processing this tragedy easier on Grimmie’s family.
In addition, Grimmie’s manager Brian Teefey set up the GoFundMe page to help provide financial support for her family. Teefey originally asked for $4000, but people have donated over $175,000 at the time of publishing. It’s heartwarming to see people being so generous during tragedies like these, but it’s sad and outrageous that this isn’t even the only high-profile fatal shooting that has happened in Orlando this weekend. All we can do is our best to help and support those who need it the most.
