Do you remember the Spice Girls offering “Spice Up Your Life?” Of course you do, it’s the one with the video where the mega-popular 90s pop outfit patrolled the skies of a bleak dystopian future that they presumably controlled. (Spice Girls: Not kidding around on the world domination thing.) Adele certainly remembers! In fact, she busted out a bit of the tune in concert recently.
As you can see in the fan-shot video located above, engages in some dancing in front of an enthusiastic crowd while occasionally saying two magic words: Spice Girls.
“I’m not a Spice Girl,” the Grammy conjurer declared to the Amsterdam audience. After that, she took the lead single off Spiceworld for a spin. The track wasn’t given a big bombastic ballad treatment or anything like that. Just a fun frivolous (but welcome) sprint through the chorus.
Of course, Adele has her Spice Girl fandom credentials. You might remember her absolutely slaying “Wannabe” (and Nicki Minaj bars as well) while rolling around with Late Late Show host James Corden for some Carpool Karaoke. The Girl Power ambassadors expressed their hearty endorsement of of the Late Late Show performance and now the kind words continue for this mini-homage.

For those of you that like to keep track of these sorts of things, Adele has a favorite Spice Girl. In an interview with Vogue, she shared that she “really connected to Geri.” So if you see a cover of “Look At Me” pop up on Adele’s setlist at any stage, now you know why.
