It’s been a busy week for 22-year-old Ariana Grande. She began slowly rolling out her album, Dangerous Woman, releasing a song a day and the “Let Me Love You video with Lil Wayne before the album officially hit retailers on Friday. Dangerous is expected to debut atop Billboard’s Hot 200 next week, and tonight, she capped off the successful weekend with a performance of “Into You” at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards.
Illuminated by glowing purple lights, Ariana kicked off her performance by playing piano and singing out the opening notes of the title track with the help of a vocoder for effect. Eventually she sauntered onto the stage, and with the help of about a dozen male dancers, proceeded to deliver one of the best performances of the night. Always an impressive vocal performer, Ariana did not disappoint, belting out her trademark high notes and pumping energy into the show. All in all, it was quite the showcase for anybody on the fence about checking out Dangerous Woman.
Ariana was nominated for two awards, Top Female Artist and Top Social Media Artist, but didn’t take home any trophies. Stay updated with our list of 2016 Billboard Music Awards winners as the ceremony rolls on.
