The Grammys, the music industry’s biggest night, always kicks off the night before at the Pre-Grammy Gala. Some of the performances that we’d honestly like to see the most at the big show happen at the gala and never end up seeing the light of day. But thankfully, due to a few sneaky camera phones, we can all check out Beck and the surviving members of Nirvana paying tribute to David Bowie.

Clive Davis, titan of industry in music, regularly hosts the Pre-Grammy Gala the night before the yearly awards show. This year’s shindig featured numerous tributes to the late Bowie, but the aforementioned performance by Beck, Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear has definitely garnered the most attention. They dusted off “The Man Who Sold the World,” a favorite track from Nirvana’s legendary MTV Unplugged appearance. Watch that version, too, because it’s always worth watching again.
