We’ve JuJu’d On That Beat for the last time because the new wave is the Mannequin Challenge. And it’s exactly what it sounds like — posing completely still like a mannequin while Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles” plays. Easy peasy. No dance skills required, guy who’s still struggling with the Milly Rock. Getting in on the action now is Destiny’s Child!
OG member Kelly Rowland shared a cute video of her and sisters Beyonce and Michelle partaking in the viral challenge. However, instead of “Black Beatles” the girls went with throwback Lauryn Hill deep-cut, “Every Ghetto, Every City” from Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill masterpiece.
This little reunion hints at a possible bigger reunion in the future. As any true fan knows, DC4 was formed with original members Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, LeToya Luckett and Farrah Franklin in 1997, making next year their 20th anniversary. In fact, we’re just a few days away from the 19th anniversary of their debut single, “No, No, No.” My, how time flies!
Most recently, an official Instagram — blue check and all — for the group popped up on Instagram with little factoids and song anniversary dates, prompting rumors of a 2017 reunion. Like, a real one. With all the original members of Destiny’s Child. But Kelly Rowland insists she and the girls haven’t even discussed it. “We haven’t talked anything about that,” Kelly confessed to E News last week. “We’ve just been enjoying each other’s company and love and enjoying being women.”
Uh huh. Saving my money now just in case though!
