Over the weekend, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band paid a fitting tribute to Prince after the icon’s death last week. The Boss’ rendition of “Purple Rain” was a fantastic affair that, like the many other musical ovations to the rock legend’s memory, bathed the stage in purple light. Before all of this came to pass, however, Springsteen put on a concert in Baltimore that bathed a fan in an altogether different light.
As reported by Death and Taxes, Springsteen and the E Street Band’s crew typically outfit the general-admission sections with a series of walkways so that the Boss can travel among the fans mid-performance. This presents anyone with a smartphone to strike a pose and “take a selfie” with the singer as he sashays by. It also gives Springsteen the chance to interrupt these supposed selfies so that his fans can actually take a selfie with him.
Like the young woman in the above video from Boss Fan, which caught her surprise selfie with Springsteen at a cringe-inducing level of slow motion that is both creepy and amazing. The whole video is worth a watch, but the greatness that is this slo-mo selfie starts at around the 20-second mark and doesn’t stop until the very end.
