Imagine listening to Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” for four days straight. You also can’t speak, read a book, browse the internet or shower during that time, and you can only consume water, rice or porridge. Sounds like the worst type of torture ever, right? Well, 23-year-old Jack White, a choir master from Southhampton, will be taking on this challenge — all in the name of charity.
The song was selected by the public after they were tasked with finding the most annoying song possible. Runners up included Frozen‘s “Let It Go” and Eduard Khil’s “Trololo” (they totally should’ve included Tay Zonday’s “Chocolate Rain”).
“I’m not really much of a Rick Astley fan and I definitely won’t be after Monday,” White said in an interview with the BBC. Inspired by his nephew who has type 1 diabetes, the choirmaster hopes to raise £2,000 (a little over $3,000) for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
White will be live streaming everything through YouTube, which you can check out below.
More information about the challenge and the progress of the task can be found here, and if you feel like donating just go to White’s JustGiving page (he’s already earned almost £1,800).
