Chvrches blasted onto the scene in 2013 with their huge debut album, The Bones of What You Believe. And now, two years later, the Scottish synthpoppers are finally back with their follow up. Every Open Eye will be dropping on September 25, but we get our first sample today of what it will sound like with the band’s new lyric video for “Leave a Trace.”
On the track, Lauren Mayberry is fiery and resilient, singing: “I know you’ll never fold, but I believe nothing that I’m told.” After having a fruitful summer crushing misogynist trolls online, maybe her tough attitude has seeped into her songwriting.
Along “Leave a Trace,” we also got the full tracklist for Every Open Eye. While there’s no songs named “Richard Pryor” or “Gene Wilder” as promised, the 14-track album should be enough to hold our interest.
