Earlier this year Clipping dropped their fantastic new album Splendor & Misery, an album of Afrofuturist noise-rap that feels more and more relevant each passing day under Trump. In conjunction with the album we did a deep dive on the group and their backstory which you can check out here. Just before the album was released, Clipping appeared on James Corden for their first-ever TV performance to do “A Better Place” live.

Looks like a lot of people tuned in for that, because Conan had the group on as a musical guest last night, an even bigger look for the group, who recently announced a slew of tour dates for next year. For last night’s performance, they opted to do another song off Splendor & Misery, the clattering “Air Em Out,” enlisting drummer Chukwudi Hodge to provide live percussion, and recreate some of what they did in the studio to create the beats for the song. This song includes one of my favorite Clipping lyrics to date — “real players trip light years.” Watch it above and check out their tour dates below.
