After over a year of waiting, today Faith Evans finally unveiled her joint album with her one-time husband The Notorious B.I.G., titled The King & I. To help celebrate the project’s arrival, Evans also shared a brand new video for one the standout tracks, “When We Party.” Streaming exclusively on Tidal, the video is funky and fun send-up to the West Coast that comes with a pretty stellar feature from Snoop Dogg. The new song heavily samples Biggie’s standout Life After Death track “Going Back To Cali.”
The King & I is a tremendous, 25-track homage, filled out with contributions from numerous luminaries like Snoop, DJ Premier, Just Blaze Busta Rhymes, Lil Kim and Jadakiss to name a few. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Evans talked about the emotional process of putting this project together. “People ask me a lot, ‘Was there ever an emotional moment?'” she said. “I’m not a cryer,” Evans admitted, but there was a time when “I felt a tap on my shoulder, and I was bawling like, ‘I think that was him!’ I really feel like [B.I.G.] tapped me on my shoulder, like, ‘This is dope.’ He felt proud.”
