It is a tough time to be a Frank Ocean fan on the festival circuit. Last week, Ocean’s team announced via press release that he would be dropping out of his headlining set at Sasquatch, claiming that he “had to cancel due to production delays beyond his control. LCD Soundsystem took his spot, and while they’re a great band undergoing a resurgence, it was a bit of a tonal shift.
Unfortunately, it was announced on Wednesday that Ocean would also be withdrawing from his spot at Hangout Festival, citing similar problems. Festival representatives explained that “Due to production delays beyond his control Frank Ocean will be unable to perform. He passes on his apologies & hopes to return to AL soon.”

Phoenix moved into Ocean’s spot, so festival goers will still have plenty of excellent music to soak in while they bake in the heat of Gulf Shores, but fans who we’re hoping to witness the rapper live are surely disappointed. Ocean is still scheduled for WayHome Festival, NorthSide, Panorama, Primavera Sound, and FYF, so all hope is not lost. However, if you can’t make it to one of those, listening to Blonde for the 200th time will have to do.
