Kodak Black’s got two legal headaches behind him but his toughest challenge in court may still be yet to come.
The Florida rapper was released from county jail on Monday, only to be extradited to South Carolina, where he’s facing a more serious sex charge. Earlier in his case, there was a question on whether he would be released once his sentence was up or if he’d be handed over to South Carolina authorities. A Florida judge approved the transfer during a November 21 extradition hearing, according to the Sun-Sentinel.
Kodak, born Dieuson Octave, had served a 120-day sentence in St. Lucie County Jail after pleading no contest to two misdemeanor drug charges back in September. The judge in the case reportedly exercised leniency in the case to give the 19-year-old a chance to turn his life around with his promising music career. But, the drug charges are in lesser seriousness in comparison to the criminal sexual conduct case he faces in South Carolina. If he’s found guilty, the charge carries a potential 30-year sentence.
Still, his attorneys say the young rapper is in good spirits. “We are firmly convinced that he will be vindicated in that charge and shortly be set free,” said attorney Gary Kollin. “He’s looking forward to getting to South Carolina so he can go on with his life and career.”
