Lil Wayne has been talking about retiring from rap for a minute now, but it looks like the Young Money rapper is serious this time, following the ongoing court battle between him and Birdman.
I AM NOW DEFENSELESS AND mentally DEFEATED & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I'm dun
— Lil Wayne WEEZY F (@LilTunechi) September 3, 2016
In the wee hours of Saturday morning, Tunechi wrote he was “mentally” spent and gracefully bowing out, sadly tweeting, “I AM NOW DEFENSELESS AND mentally DEFEATED & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I’m dun.”
The tweet is probably in reference to the arduous legal battle against father figure and business partner Birdman. Wayne sued the penny-pinching Cash Money Records CEO for a staggering $51 million in January 2015, citing “breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, accounting, and anticipatory breach of contract,” including failure to pay owed advance money and royalties. The lawsuit also called out Birdman for failing to put out the much anticipated, and, at this point, mythical Tha Carter V album.
Oddly enough, Wayne originally said he was going to retire after Tha Carter V, telling MTV News in 2012, “Man, I’ve been rappin’ since I was 8 years old. I’m 30 now, man. That’s a long time, man.” In 2014, he told the network he would only drop another album after C5 if the price was right. “25 to 35 million would get me to do another solo album after this,” Weezy told MTV following the announcement that Tha Carter V was his last studio project. Since then, Wayne has gone on a FreeC5 social media campaign while publicly dissing Birdman in the process. Earlier this year, it appeared as if the father-son duo were making amends when they popped up at a club together, but it’s been “F*ck Cash Money” ever since.

I'm good y'all don't trip

Fans are obviously distraught over Wayne’s decision to call it quits, but Weezy says he doesn’t need anyone’s pity. “Ain’t lookin for sympathy, just serenity,” the 33-year-old rhymer added to his original retirement tweet. Still, fans are worried.

Meanwhile, an unbothered Birdman just recently copped rumored girlfriend Toni Braxton (?!) a brand new Bentley Bentayga SUV retailed at $250,000.
