With Mac Miller’s new album The Divine Feminine just a week away, the Pittsburgh MC decided to unleash “My Favorite Part,” his collaboration with his girlfriend Ariana Grande, to remind fans of his project’s impending release. The song comes just a month after Mac hopped on the remix to Grande’s track “Into You,” a reunion of sorts after he originally appeared on Ari’s second single ever and both artist’s first Top 10 hit “That Way” in 2013. Now, she returns the favor on “My Favorite Part,” a sweet, love song that just might garner some Top 40 spins of its own this fall.
It’s a duet of sorts, as Miller casually sings the song, rather than rapping. Mac is no stranger to crooning, and his love ballad of sorts “ROS” from his last album GO:OD AM was one of the best songs of 2015, so it’s not all that surprising to see this track come together so well. The key to singing when you’re not much of a singer is not trying to do to much, and Mac follows the blueprint, holding one note throughout and relying on the melodies and songwriting to do all the heavy lifting.
Grande only shows up briefly, offering some sobering background vocals and a female perspective of love on a short but effective verse to close out the track. Check out Mac Miller’s “My Favorite Part” below, featuring Ariana Grande and preorder The Divine Feminine on iTunes here before it releases Friday, September 16th.
