Back in October, my Smoking Section colleague Beware asked the very important question – hey, where the hell has Macklemore been? Two years ago, you couldn’t sneeze without one of your boogers rapping a verse from “Thrift Shop,” and artists simply can’t afford to take vacations from hip hop and rap unless their names are Jay Z or Kanye West, in which case they can do whatever the hell they please. Well, we might have finished nodding our heads to “Thrift Shop” within days after it became arguably the most overplayed song of 2013, but now it’s time for our kids to sing along thanks to that smelly, old jerk Oscar the Grouch.
Macklemore is the latest musical guest to swing by Sesame Street, and his new rendition of the song that made him a household name apparently teaches kids that it’s okay to wear garbage. On Macklemore’s Sesame Street, we’re all the stinky kids.
