Justin Bieber has finally released his collaborative pop dance track with Major Lazer and Mø that’s been in the works for a while. Back in May, Bieber tweeted at frontman Diplo: “when are we bringing this new music?” hinting that we could be in for a follow-up to last summer’s Jack Ü hit, “Where Are Ü Now” which the two had collaborated on with Skrillex. He also teased fans with sneak peeks of the song by direct messaging them sample lyrics on Twitter throughout the past week. According to a statement from Diplo on the official YouTube channel:
” I had been trying to link with Benny Blanco and Ed Sheeran for years to find the right song we could all work on together and the moment I heard this one, I knew that it was the one. The timing was perfect and when we approached Justin, he was also in love with the song we all had written. I thought it would be interesting to incorporate another vocal and seeing she’s family, I reached out to Mø and we decided to try our best to make something fresh and interesting as Major Lazer.”
It’s the new first song Bieber has released since last November, and the inevitable chart-topper features a Caribbean vibe and a reggaeton drum wave, along with confessional, encouraging Bieber lyrics like: “If you feel you’re sinking/ I will jump right over/ into cold, cold water for you.” It’s further enhanced by the addition of Danish singer/songwriter Mø whose voice you’ll recognize from another Major Lazer collaboration: last year’s “Lean On.”
