Some folks acted like the election was the end of the world and that Trump’s America would be the straw that breaks society’s back, but I did not. That kind of reaction is silly and it’s no time to give up! That’s how I felt before tonight and before I saw the video above. Metallica hasn’t been the band they once were for a long time, at least in the eyes of some fans. Like I still enjoy Metallica and I’m not always shocked that they do some things that they wouldn’t have done back in the 80s. But it’s hard to take the video above.
That’s likely a little dramatic, but it’s hard to watch Metallica do the kid instrument thing. They’re now right there with Robin Thicke, Mariah Carey, Madonna, and Adele. They could make a new Big Four of that, leaving Robin Thicke out because it’s Robin Thicke.
So yeah, this is one of those things that’s viral, fun, not to be taken seriously, and not election related. That’s all fine. But what’s next? Will Slayer show up to play “Raining Blood” in the kid room? Will we see Dave Mustaine show up on Carpool Karaoke to do the entirety of Rust In Peace? Why not? Make it happen.
