Grab your umbrella. It looks like we have another Miley Cyrus controversy sh*tstorm a’brewin’.
In a recent chat with Elle, Miley discussed a number of different topics, including her current gig as a professional chair spinner with The Voice. The bit of the interview that’s currently raising eyebrows is regarding the observation Miley made on the show telling a contestant that not everyone can be Mariah Carey. She told the publication that Mimi isn’t her cup of tea and she has a specific reason why. (Get your Mariah “I don’t know her” gifs ready.)
I’ve never really been a fan, because it’s so much about Mariah Carey. That’s part of her shtick; I can see through that. That’s part of what makes her a gay icon; like, it’s about Mimi! It’s about what she’s wearing, and it’s about her. What I make isn’t about me. It’s about sharing my story; it’s about someone being connected to what I’m saying.
Of course, no one would ever dare suggest Miley Cyrus would engage in something that could be seen as all about her.
This isn’t the sort of interview excerpt that will endear Miley to Mariah’s Lambily, so maybe this is an elaborate way to take any leftover Nicki/Mariah tension off as an apology to Nicki Minaj for the whole 2015 VMAs issue. Let the conspiracy discussion begin (and end) here!
